D.Gray-man ep.01

I’m pretty impressed with this manga adaptation; didn’t think it’d turn out so well. The art style, character design and quality are all pretty good, though Allen’s design isn’t too exceptional. The story this episode was pretty strectched out – I was hoping for a 10 minute introductory fight or something, but it turns out the first manga chapter took up the whole first episode. I can’t wait until the other Exorcists are introduced, as shown in the OP sequence. Both the OP and ED are alright, but neither were what I had in mind. It’s not something I would listen to normally anyway. Later on it gets much more interesting, so if you saw this episode and didn’t feel all that satisfied, keep watching for a bit. As the manga hasn’t finished yet, the episode count is currently undetermined, so stopping now and finding out 30 episodes later that this show has become totally awesome wouldn’t do you any good.
Just to let you know, I do not write summaries – they take too much time. Also, if you want to know the basic story of this series, go look it up on ANN or something, or just watch the episode and you’ll find out.
